In Nails Done we provide two options of gel removal.
Soaking with acetone is fit for clients who do not often do gel manicures. For example, for special events or on vacation.
The process consists in applying cotton soaked with acetone on the old gel coating. Then it is wrapped in foil and the exposure time is 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, the nail specialist is very gentle, without damaging your nail plate, remove soaked old coating from your nail, and then buffing the nails.
If you plan to do a gel manicure regularly, we recommend that you get the second method of removal using an electric file.
This method is performed in order not to thin your natural nail plate (which is inevitable when removing the gel using acetone) and not to remove the material completely, as this makes no sense because your nails will be immediately filled with a new gel coating.
In this method, we use a soft abrasive diamond or ceramic nail bit. Using it, we safely and without unpleasant sensations remove most of the previous coating, but leave a thin layer of gel on your nails for further coverage.
